@anthropologie

WHAT IS COLD PIGMENT DYED OR CPD?

In the process of COOL PIGMENT DYE, the ready-made goods are dyed in a cold process at room temperature without heating. Garments are dyed at ambient temperature with color pigments together with a corresponding binder. Cold-dyed garments show a fancy and vintage look. Cold dyed clothing have a scruffy, washed-out appearance, stains, spots or color gradients and are usually brighter along the seams. Each finished piece has an individual one of a kind look.

Advantage And Disadvantage of CPD

Pigment dye can easily apply in any fabric from cotton to synthetic blends, which is not possible in other conventional dyeing. Its a comparatively a cheap dyeing and environmental friendly process. The chemical used in CPD is less toxic.

There is also some disadvantage is CPD as well. The color may be fade and it turns out so many ranges of shades in bulk production.
